This is probably one of the first things my wife and I did to the house. Well, my wife did to the house. But probably the ONE thing that people comment on the most. 

 PAINT SOMETHING ON YOUR FRONT DOOR. Thats right, not paint your front door, but paint SOMETHING on your door. Could be anything, but we went with a classic ginkyo design that matches the color scheme of our house. Then get ready for all the compliments and the "Oh... your the house with the blah blah painted on the front door!"

 And what a better way to give someone directions to your house, as its bound to be a unique identifier on your street.
